Margaret Scallan Valois 68 died peacefully at her home in Plaucheville surrounded by her husband and three children on Monday, May 14, 2007. Margaret was a loving wife and mother of three children. Before returning to Plaucheville in 1977, she was a seamstress for 10 years at her home in New Orleans. Margaret attended mass daily and served the Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church as a member of the Blue Army and The Ladies Alter Society. She also served as a hospice volunteer for nearly 10 years until she was diagnosed with Lou Gehrigs Disease. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 16 at Escude Funeral Home in Moreauville, LA from 5 pm to 10 pm and resume Thursday, May 17 from 8 am to 10:30 am followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Craig Scott at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church in Plaucheville followed by Interment Services at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. The Wake Service and Rosary will be performed by Rev. Charles Morgan at 7 pm Wednesday, May 16 at Escude Funeral Home. She is survived by her husband Ben Valois, son Mark Valois and his wife Kathy Valois of Plaucheville, daughters Adrianna Valois of New York, New York and Yolanda Rabalais of Baton Rouge, LA, grandson Steven Paul Valois of Plaucheville, granddaughters Alexandra Rabalais and Alexis Rabalais of Baton Rouge, sisters Alizidie Haydel of LaPlace and Carolyn Scallan and her husband Mike Mayeaux, brothers Kermit Scallan and his wife Betty Scallan, Edmond Scallan and his wife Peggy Scallan, Lynn Winkie Scallan and his wife Nat Scallan, sister-in-law Mary Ann Scallan all of Plaucheville, brother-in-law Edgar Guilbeau of Lakeland, LA and fourteen nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Cilton J. Scallan, mother Stella Couvillion Scallan, sisters Delores Mayeux, and Martha Guilbeau, brother Marvin Scallan. Pallbearers are Steven Paul Valois, Jeremy Bordelon, Eric Scallan, Terrance Guilbeau, Manion Bordelon, and Kenneth Haydel. Margaret was blessed to have the daily support of three dedicated caretakers her husband Ben Valois, and her aids Susan Dominick and Frances McIntosh.
