Funeral services for Maria English Cardwell Hubbard of Plaucheville will be held at the Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church of Plaucheville on Friday, February 18, 2011, beginning at 11:00am. A visitation will be held at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church from 10:00am until the time of service. Entombment will follow the service in the Mater Dolorosa Mausoleum.
Maria English Cardwell Hubbard, age 90, passed away at Oakmont Estates in Mansura on Wednesday, February 16, 2011. She is preceded in death by her 1st Husband, Walthin Macklyn Hale Cardwell, 2nd husband, Calvin Pete Hubbard parents, Hiram Zulma Mayeux Englishsisters Ada English, Louise Scallan, Nedra Mayeux, and Nobie Jordan brothers, Tommy T.K. English, Ray English, Harris English, Burton English, and Lavern English. She is survived by her Son, Dr. J. Frederick Cardwell and wife Norma of Raceland, LA sister, Kathryn McCaleb of Plaucheville. She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren , 17 greatgrandchildren, and 1 greatgreatchild. She was a graduate of the St. Joseph High School . In 1950, she and her sister Ada opened the AM Caf in Plaucheville. Ms. Maria loved her community, and was involved in many events in church and school. She was also a member of the Gold Star Wives of America. She also loved reading, sewing, and bird watching in her yard. She also had a passion for gardening flowers, pecan trees, and pear trees.
