Memorial services for Martin Gaspard of Batchelor will take place at the St. Vincent de Pauls Catholic Church of Innis on Thursday, February 24, 2011, beginning at 10:30am, with Fr. Keunsoo Lee officiating. Visitations will also be held at the church, prior to the memorial services, beginning at 9:00am, with a rosary at 9:30am. Burial services will commence at the St. Peters Catholic Cemetery.
Born February 19, 1935 in Lettsworth, LA, Martin was a lifelong farmer who held 3 U.S. Patents for machinery he invented to use on his farm. He also served on the board of directors of the Pointe Coupee Farmers CoOp, and is one of the founders of the Pointe Coupee Farmers Elevator. He will be forever remembered as Boss Hog. Martin Gaspard, age 76, passed away at the Carpenter House on Monday, February 21, 2011. He is preceded in death by his parents, Belton Ruby Sherman Gaspard brothers, Ray Jimmie Gaspard. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Desselle Gaspard of Batchelor sons, Marty Gaspard wife Cindy of Lettsworth, Lane Gaspard wife Stephanie of Batchelor daughters, Sheryl Janet husband Daniel of Lake Charles, Christina Harrison husband Raymond of Batchelor, Holly Gaspard of Batchelor brothers, Charles Gaspard of Hamburg, Dayton Gaspard of Batchelor. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren seven greatgrandchildren.
Services and arrangements are under the direction of Escud Funeral Home.
