The memorial service for Marvin Paul Hebert of Cottonport will be held on a future date. 

 

Marvin Paul Hebert, age 68, passed away at his home in Cottonport on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, after fighting a longtime illness. Marvin's loving memory will forever be cherished by his devoted wife, Beryl, who stood by his side through the years and aided him through his longtime illness. 

 

Marvin dedicated 22 years of his life to working with the Department of Corrections both at Angola and Raymond Laborde’s Prisons before retiring as a Major. A man of simple tastes, Marvin found solace in the great outdoors, particularly enjoying hunting squirrels, doves, and his favorite – wood ducks. His passion for the New Orleans Saints was unwavering, bringing him joy through victories and losses alike.

 

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 50 years, Beryl Hebert of Cottonport; son, Matthew Hebert (Sarah) of Plaucheville; daughter, Stephanie Hebert of Otis; grandchildren, Rylee Dalgo of Plaucheville, Chad Michael of Plaucheville, David Smith, Jr. of Plaucheville, and Pat Smith of Otis; great-grandchildren: Kinsley Smith of Plaucheville and Sydnie Smith of Fifth Ward; siblings, Virgil Hebert of Cottonport, Jay Hebert of Cottonport, and Margaret Robar of  Mansura. 

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hoover Hebert & Geraldine Engeron Hebert. 

 

The family would like to express their gratitude to Faith Foundation Hospice of Alexandria for their compassionate care of Marvin.
