Funeral services for Mary Ortego of Simmesport will take place at the Christ the King Catholic Church of Simmesport on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, beginning at 2:00pm. Visitations will be held at the Escude Funeral Home of Simmesport, prior to the funeral services, beginning at 9:00am. A wake service will take place Tuesday afternoon at 1:30pm, and burial services will commence at the Christ the King Mausoleum.
Mary Ortego, age 90, passed away at the St. Clare Manor Nursing Home of Baton Rouge on Sunday, October 3, 2010. She is preceded in death by her husband, J.E. Bill Ortego son, Gerald Mark Ortego brother, Ed Bacon sister, Anna Ponthier parents, James Mark Sarah Bacon son, Ollie Bacon soninlaw, Don Estes. She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Ortego Estes of Brookhaven, MS, Wanda Ortego Williams husband Kermit Wayne of Baton Rouge Betty Davis of Baton Rouge sons, Murray Ortego wife Debbie of Brazoria, TX, Bart Ortego wife Kathryn of Lafayette stepsons, J.E. Peters wife Sally of Boerne, TX, Charles Ray Peters wife Pat of Rusk, TX. She is also survived by her twentytwo grandchildren, and a host of greatgrandchildren, greatgreatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.
