Matthew Plauche, Sr.

Mr. Matthew A. Plauche, Sr., 84, passed away at his home in Plaucheville, Louisiana at 7:15 am on October 31, 2011 surrounded by family.
Visitation will be held at Escud Funeral Home in Cottonport, LA. on Tuesday November 1 from 5 to 9 pm and Wednesday 8 am until time of services. Rosary will be said on Tuesday at 7 pm.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday November 2, 2011 at Mater Dolorosa Church in Plaucheville, LA and burial at the Plaucheville Cemetery.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Ella Louise Teeny Brassette Plauche, son, Bruce Plauche, greatgranddaughter, 3 brothers and 1 sister.
He leaves behind his loving family of 9 Children. Eight sons, Kenny Deanna from West Virginia, Matthew Butch, Jr. Peggy from Brusly, Raymond Susan from Cottonport, Dr. Warren John Monica from Plaucheville, Lane Maureen from Sabine Pass, TX, Ronnie Lila from Cottonport, Dr. Andy Kristin from Broussard, Joel Anne and one daughter, Karen Mark Plauche Gremillion from Plaucheville 28 grandchildren and 23 greatgrandchildren.
Matthew was a World War II veteran, a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as Alderman for the Village of Plaucheville. He owned and operated a dairy and soybean farm in Plaucheville for many years. He and his family were voted Louisiana Farm Family of the year during the peak of his career.
Matt and his wife Teeny raised their 10 children in a strong Catholic faith with all 10 graduating from St. Joseph Catholic School in Plaucheville.
He was an inspiration for all who met him. In spite of his physical limitations in his later years, he continued to enjoy pleasures of farming, gardening, hunting, fishing and being with family.His greatest joy was being surrounded by family and discussing sports and news headlines of the day. He was a pleasure to be around.
