Michael Jules Ducote, age 80, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was a high school graduate of Cottonport High School in 1962, where he was affectionately nick-named “Lil Mike”, because there was also a “Big Mike”. He then attended University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette, was then employed by Elmer Candy Company & The Boeing Company of New Orleans from 1963 to 1967. When he moved back to Cottonport with his family, he was employed by Marksville Tin Shop, Goudeau, Inc., Cpt. Fleur Offshore Drilling Company, Merrick Construction Company, and J.W. McDonald Construction Company of Glenmora, LA, when he retired in 2005. Mike was a member of the St. Mary’s Assumption Church in Cottonport, LA. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends, but spent most of his spare time tending his garden, a “green thumb” talent he learned and perfected from his mother.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years. Bonnie Aymond Ducote of Cottonport; 4 daughters: Michelle Jones (Robert) of Geismar, LA, Kelly Ducote (Lars) of Cottonport, LA, Jill Steele (Todd) of Bunkie, LA, and Mary Rivers (Pat) of Bunkie, LA; 4 grandchildren: Lyndsay Ducote, Lauren Lemoine (Phillip), Dylan Jones, and Claire Rivers; and 3 great-grandchildren, Ava, Thomas, and Nathan; brother, Randy Ducote of Cottonport; and sister, Connie Christoffer of Violet.

He was preceded in death by his parents, E.J. & Irene Ducote; brother, Eric Ducote; sister-in-law, Catherine Ducote.

The family would like to thank the staff of All Saints Hospice and Bunkie Home Care for their compassionate love and excellent support.
