Michael Jones

Michael Lynn Jones passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, February 23, 2011, surrounded by his family after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 54 and a longtime resident of Simmesport.
Mike was born February 25, 1956 in Haiti, Missouri to Lynn Noflett Jones and Norma Jane Watkins. He will be remembered for his love of farming, LSU football, his work at Simmesport State Bank and First South Farm Credit as well as his involvement with catechism at Christ the King Church. He was a graduate of Louisiana State University and a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. Mike was very thankful and appreciative for the outpouring of support, love and prayers during his journey with cancer.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lisa Romaine Jones parents, L.N. and Jane Jones of Lettsworth daughters, Jessica Jones Cashio and husband Brent Cashio of River Ridge, Lauren Jones Soldani and husband Lance Soldani of Moreauville and Sarah Jane Jones of Baton Rouge brother, Mark Jones and wife Glenda Jones of Lettsworth fatherinlaw, Madison Bud Romaine of Baton Rouge brothersinlaw, Craig Romaine and wife Susan Romaine of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Chris Romaine of Houston, Texas and sisterinlaw, Nancy Thompson of Baton Rouge. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Taylor Lynn Cashio, Beaux Michael Cashio and Lane Michael Soldani and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 24, 2011 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Escude Funeral Home in Simmesport.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at Christ the King Catholic Church, Simmesport at 11 a.m. Friday, February 25, 2011.
Honorary pallbearers are Mark Jones, Bryan Jones, Brent Cashio, Lance Soldani, Craig Romaine, Chris Romaine, Steve Lacombe and Derek Moreau.
