Neva Burke

Funeral services for Neva Laborde Burke of Mansura will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 beginning at 11am at the St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Mansura with Fr. Martin Laird officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at the Escud Funeral Home in Mansura beginning at 9am until 11am. Interment will be held in the St. Paul Mausoleum in Mansura. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Escud Funeral Home.
Neva Laborde Burke, age 101, passed away at Rivire de Soleil Community Care Center on Saturday, August 2, 2014. She was born March 24. 1913 and was a lifelong resident of Avoyelles Parish specifically Mansura. Neva was an active member of St. Paul Catholic Church until recent years. Neva will be especially remembered for her love of gardening, preparing large meals for family gatherings and her deep love for her grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, and greatgreatgranddaughter.
Neva was preceded in death by her husband, Fulgence P. Burke, son, Kermit Burke, and grandson, William P. Hatcher.
She is survived by her sons, Neilson P. Burke of Natchitoches Errol J. Burke of Marksville daughters, Yvonne Burke of Alexandria Celeste H. Broussard Ray of Alexandria. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Linda B. Graves, Petra Burke, Paula Burke, Maria Burke Douglas, Michelle Britt William, Kelly Hatcher Eric Hatcher Susan nine greatgrandchildren: Meagan Hatcher, Taylor Graves, Jesse Parkman, Jacob Burke, Alivia Burke, Caitlin Burke, Bryce Millsap, Skyler Millsap Ryder Millsap one greatgreatgranddaughter, Emily Hatcher.
The family is grateful to the staff and caregivers at Rio Sol Nursing Home, Rivire de Soleil Community Care Center and All Saints Hospice for their help and caring support.
