Nora Jeansonne Descant

Funeral Mass for Nora Descant of Hessmer will take place at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Hessmer on Monday, May 1^st, 2023 beginning at 11:00am with Rev. Edwin Rodriguez-Hernandez officiating. Burial will take place at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery.

Nora Jeansonne Descant, age 79, was a native of Moreauville and resident of Grand Isle but lived in Hessmer. She passed away at her home in Hessmer on Wednesday, April 26^th, 2023.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Wayne Descant (Millie) of Grand Isle, Eric Descant (Karen) of Hessmer; Tommy Descant (Missy) of LaRose, Julie Milazzo (Maurice) of Plaquemine, Tammy Rhodes (Christopher) of Houma; son-in-law, Philip Cavell of Houma; sisters; Ida Gaspard, Marion Bordelon (Scottie), Victoria Armand (Keith), Delaine Rattan (Richard); brother, Kenneth Jeansonne (Debbie).
She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, 6 step great grandchild and 15 step great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus & Rita Jeansonne., husband, Newman Descant; daughter, Caroline Cavell; great granddaughter Brieanna Descant; Brothers, Patrick Jeansonne, Leonard Jeansonne, Eddie Jeansonne, Wayne Jeansonne, and Errol Jeansonne.

Visitation will commence from 9:00am on Monday, May 1^st, 2023 until 10:30am at the Escude Funeral Home of Mansura.
