Odile Virginia Harris

Odile Virginia Harris, age 85, of Mansura, LA passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family after a short battle with cancer. 

Funeral Mass for Odile Virginia Harris of Mansura will begin at 10:00am on Friday, September 27, 2024, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Mansura with Fr. Blake Deshautelle officiating. Entombment will follow at the St. Paul Mausoleum in Mansura. 

Visitation will begin at 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Escude Funeral Home in Mansura with the rosary prayer service at 6:00pm. Visitation will resume at 8:00am until 9:45am on Friday, September 27, 2024. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Elizabeth Ducote Tassin; son, Don Harris; brother, Phillip Tassin; and sister, Cynthia Tassin.

A devoted wife and loving mother, she leaves to cherish her memory are her husband of 68 years, Melvin Harris; daughters, Phyllis Chatelain (Myron), Robin Harris Thevenot, Susan Bordelon (Scott); sons, Todd Harris, Melvin James Harris, Jr. (Kristie), and Clint Harris (Shannon). She was known as “Mom” to 16 grandchildren: Joshua Chatelain, Dustin Chatelain (Heather), Adam Chatelain (Jessica), Sarah Chatelain, Ned Wright (Holly), Peter Wright, Davis Harris, Joseph Harris (Mary Maddux), Megan Thevenot (Andrew Rudnik), Courtney Stearns (Doug), Abby Birdsong (James), Jeffrey Harris, Connor Harris, Taylor Harris, Anna Harris, and Lindsay Harris. She was also loved by 9 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four brothers, Sylvian Tassin (Judy), Kenneth Tassin (Sandra), Raphael Tassin, and Harry Peter Tassin (Cheryl). 

Those honored to be pallbearers: Myron Chatelain, Dustin Chatelain, Kade Chatelain, Scott Bordelon, Davis Harris, and Eddie Tassin.
