Odile Voorhies

Funeral services for Odile Voorhies of Moreauville will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 11:00am at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Moreauville. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2012 beginning 9:00am until time of funeral at Escud Funeral Home of Moreauville.
Ms. Odile grew up in Moreauville and was the oldest of 13 children. She moved as a young adult to Alexandria to work for South Central Bell as a telephone operator. At that time, she worked boards from the old ring down magneto system to dial and direct distance dial. She was one of the few French speaking operators. Ms. Odile retired in 1979 after 35yrs of service. When Odile had time off from work and once she retired, she was a world traveler. She took many vacations with her friends and family. She resided in Alexandra until 2004 when she moved to Woldenberg Village in New Orleans where she lived for the past 8years.
Odile Voorhies, age 96, passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at the Woldenberg Village in New Orleans. She was preceded in death by her father, Louis Voorhies, Sr., mother, Hermance Voorhies and brother, Rev. Louis Voorhies, Jr. She is survived by her sister, Aline V. Dufrene and niece, Rachel Dufrene.
