Funeral services for Paul Johnson of Moreauville will take place at the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church on Moreauville on Friday, December 2, 2016 beginning at 11:00am. Visitation will also be held that morning at the Escude Funeral Home of Moreauville from 8:00am to 11:00am. Burial will commence at the Sacred Heart Catholic Mausoleum.
Paul Johnson, our beloved daddy, peacefully and quietly departed this life November 28, 2016 at Christus Cabrini Hospital. He was born May 18, 1926 in Cottonport, Louisiana to the late Henry and Vergie Martin Johnson.
Paul ("P", "P.J.", "Uncle Paul") was a very energetic and outgoing man who enjoyed life. He loved to cook and barbecue for his family and friends. He loved the outdoors, spending most of his time mowing his yard. His favorite thing to do was to sit on his patio and listen to his favorite radio station, KLIL. Paul was a snappy dresser. He loved his clothes and his hats. He adored his many nieces and nephews from the Cottonport area and it was so endearing to him when they called him "Uncle Paul". Paul was a dedicated member of the Knights of Peter Claver, Court 202.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Loyola Coco Johnson; his eldest son, Paul Kenneth Johnson, Jr.; his five sisters, Everneze Johnson, Bembry, Lenora Johnson, Celestin Mammie Johnson, Helen Johnson Kyle; his two brothers, Joseph T. Johnson and Marvin Johnson.
He is survived by his brother, Johnnie Johnson (Mary) of Cottonport; six daughters, Sherry and Senta Johnson of New Orleans; Sibyl and Bonnie Johnson of Shreveport; Althea (Luther) Grisson of Bossier City; Leasia Johnson of Atlanta, Georgia; two sons, Randy Johnson of Marksville, Farrell Johnson (Carolyn) of Moreauville; brother-in-law, Oscar Paul Goody, Jr. of Moreauville; two sisters-in-law, Ludie Alexander and Bernadette Goody of Moreauville; his "cake boss" nephew, Gregory Johnson of Cottonport and his "orange fanta man", Isiah Hartford of Simmesport. Eighteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, seven step great-grandchildren, his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers are Joseph Dupas, Jr., Lorenzo Ray Nash, Curtis Celestine, Travis Martin Collins, Ryan Paul Johnson and Eric Johnson.
Honorary Pallbearers are Randy Johnson, Jr. Stanley Celestine, Gregory Johnson, Isiah Hartford, Mork Duper, Richard Roy Alexander, Brian Goody, Tony Kyle and Dewayne Johnson.
"I recognized that there is nothing better than to be glad and to do wel during life for every man, more over to eat and drink and ejoy the fruit of all his labor is a gift of God. (Ecc 3:12-13)
Funeral services and arrangements are under the direction of Escude Funeral Home.
