Funeral services for Peter Andrew Couvillion of Simmesport will be held on Monday, July 06, 2009 at Christ the King Catholic Church of Simmesport at 10:00am. Officiating will be Father Chad Partain. Visitations will be held at the Escude Funeral Home of Simmesport on Sunday, July 5, 2009 beginning at 6:00pm to 10:00pm and will re-open on the following day at 8:00am. A rosary will be held Sunday night at 7:30pm. Entombment will take place at the Christ the King Mausoleum. Peter Couvillion, age 86, passed away at the Avoyelles Hospital on Friday, July 3, 2009. He served in the U.S. Army 9th Armored Division Medical Corps in World War II. He received the Bronze Star for his bravery in the Battle of the Bulge and the battle of the Bridge at Remagen. He is preceded in death by his; parents, Ulysses S. Julie Plauche Couvillion; wife, Verdie Gremillion Couvillion; sisters, Theresa C. Gremillion; brothers, Lloyd Couvillion, Ira Couvillion, Lester Couvillion, Oscar O.L. Couvillion. He is survived by his; sons, Lynden wife Shirley Couvillion of Marlow, OK, Stephen wife Carol Couvillion, Sr. of Cottonport; daughter, Pauline C. Ewing of Baton Rouge, Kathryn husband Paul Moreau of Simmesport; brother, Ulysses Couvillion of Simmesport; sister, Magdalene Rabalais of Simmesport. He is also survived by nine grandchildren four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers include: Stephen Couvillion, Jeremy Couvillion, C. J. Laird, Dwight Rabalais, Craig Couvillion, Myron Rabalais. Funeral services and arrangements are under the directions of Escude Funeral Home.
