Funeral services for Rev. Cleveland Augusta Harris of Opelousas will take place at the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church of Simmesport on Saturday, January 7, 2012, beginning at 1:00pm with Rev. Henry Wright officiating. Visitations will be held at the Greater St. James Missionary Baptist Church of Opelousas on Friday, January 6, 2012, from 5:00pm to 10:00pm and will resume Saturday morning at the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church of Simmesport, from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Burial services will commence at the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Cemetery.
Rev. Cleveland Harris, age 90, passed away at the Opelousas General Hospital on Saturday, December 31, 2011. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Geral Dean Jackson 1st wife, Florence Riley Harris. He is survived by his wife, Betty Harris of Opelousas children, Carolyn Harris, Joseph Harris, Cleveland Harris, all of Simmesport, Wilbert Harris, Titus Rein Harris, both of Denver, CO., Corlyn Lynn Harris of Simmesport, Robert Harris, Ronald Harris, both of Houston, TX stepsons, Kevin Walker, Curtis Walker, both of Baton Rouge, Kulkarni Upendra Keith Joseph of Opelousas thirteen grandchildren, ten greatgrandchildren, five stepgrandchildren sisterinlaw, Mary Ann Joseph of Opelousas.
Services and arrangements are under the direction of Escude Funeral Home.
