Rita Smith Johnson

Funeral Mass for Rita Smith Johnson of Hessmer will begin at 12:00pm on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Belledeau with Rev. Kenneth Obiekwe officiating. The burial will follow at the church cemetery. 

Visitation will be held from 8:00am to 11:30am on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Escude Funeral Home in Mansura with the Rosary being recited at 10:30am by Mr. Amos Lacombe.

Rita Johnson, age 88, passed away at Rapides Regional Medical Center of Alexandria on Monday, November 25, 2024.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Theresa Belanger (Ronald), Rowena Johnson (Phil Tassin), and Nickolas Johnson (Tina); sister, Mary Clemence Laborde; 9 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. 

Those honored to serve as pallbearers: Troy, Matt, Papoose, Patrick, Noah, and Basco. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hickman & Francis Smith; husband, Bud Johnson; son, Daniel Johnson; and an infant brother.
