Rita Ponthieux

Rita Gaillard Ponthieux passed away on August 15, 2022, age 102, at the Riviere de Soleil Community Care Center of Mansura. Visitation will take place at the Mansura Escude Funeral Home beginning at 10am, Friday, August 19, 2022. A funeral service will follow with Father Blake Deshautelle officiating at 11am. Afterwards, burial will commence at the St. Paul Catholic Cemetery in Mansura. A Mass will be dedicated in her honor at a later date.

Rita Gaillard Ponthieux was a native of Mansura, Louisiana born to Norma Chatelain Gaillard and Arthur Peter Gaillard on April 6, 1920. Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Peter Ponthieux and daughter, Linda Naomi Ponthieux. She was well-known for her infinite motherly love and devotion to her daughter Linda, throughout her life. Also preceding Rita in death are brothers, Riley & Willard Gaillard; sister, Mable Gaillard Lacour and their spouses. Rita is survived by several nieces & nephews.

Rita’s family would like to thank the many Caregivers that looked after her at Riviere de Soleil Community Care Center over the years, including the nurses from All Saints Hospice. Because of them, she was provided not only a place to live, but a home.
