Funeral services for Robert L. Jones of Marksville will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 beginning at 11am at the St. Johns Community Church Baptist with Rev. Charles E. Guillory officiating. Visitation will take place the St. Johns Community Church Baptist beginning at 8am until 11am. Burial will take place at the St. John Community Church Baptist Cemetery in Marksville. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Escud Funeral Home.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. Timothy 4:78

Brother Robert L. Jones, age 81, was born March 11, 1933 to the late Houston N. Jones and Videlia Coleman Jones in Marksville. He departed this life on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Valley View Nursing Facility. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy M. Jones on Feb 13, 2014.

Brother Jones was baptized at an early age by the late Rev. A.L. Holmes at St. John Baptist Church. The churchs name was later changed to St. John Community Church Baptist under the pastorate of Rev. Charles E. Guillory. He was a faithful member until his death. Brother Robert graduated from Marksville Colored High School. He was a construction worker and worked at Holsum Bakery.

Those left to cherish his loving memories: son, Rev. Eddie Jones Linda of Coolidge, Tx stepson, Donald Benjamin of Marksville, La brother, Howard Jones Irene of Marksville, La brotherinlaw, Felix Benjamin Rose Mary of Moreauville, La sisterinlaw, Collette Wright of Moreauville, La godchild niece, Amanda Wilmer of Marksville, La personal nurse niece, Dionne Lair Ron Lair, Sr. of Marksville, La fourteen grandchildren, three greatgrandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Ron Lair, Sr., Kenny Johnson, Lawerence Ford, Carl Wilmer, Jr., Carl Jones, and Bradley Jones and honorary pallbearers will be Rev. Eddie Jones, Clarence Jones, Felix Benjamin, Donald Benjamin, Sylvester Jones, Wayne Jones, Howard Jones, and Ron Lair, Jr.

The family of Brother Robert Jones would like to thank everyone for their prayers, calls, visits, and loving concern during his illness and death. A special thanks to the Stat Home Health, Dr. Nijjar, Christus St. Francis Cabrini Hospital, Kieshu Gains LPN, Valley View Nursing Facility and the St. John Community Church Baptist Family.
