Funeral Mass for Ronald F. DesHotels, Sr., resident of Sunset, will begin at 11:00am on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Simmesport with Fr. Kurian Zachariah officiating. Burial will follow at the Christ the King Mausoleum.
Visitation will begin at 5:00pm until 10:00pm, on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Escude Funeral Home in Mansura (6608 Porterie St. Mansura, LA 71350.) Rosary prayer will begin at 6:00pm on Thursday. Visitation will resume at 8:00am until 10:30am on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Escude Funeral Home in Mansura.
Ronald F. DesHotels, Sr., age 90, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024, in Keller, TX.
Ronald served honorably in the United States Navy, serving on the U.S.S. Wallace L. Lind (DD703) exhibiting the courage and commitment that defined his character. After completing his military service, he graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor’s of Science majoring in Geology, where he laid the foundation for a successful career in the petroleum industry. For over 50 years, Ronald worked as a Mud Engineer, leaving an indelible mark on the industry through his contributions on rigs across Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and offshore in the Gulf of Mexico and the early era of offshore drilling in the North Sea. His remarkable journey also took him around the globe to the United Kingdom, Norway, Morocco, Egypt and Turkmenistan, where his expertise was valued and respected.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Ronald was deeply rooted in his faith and community. He found solace and strength in the teachings of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Grand Couteau, where he participated actively and fostered lasting relationships.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Ronald DesHotels, Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Fort Worth, TX; daughter, Anne Kuhne and her husband, Karl, of Lake Charles; six grandchildren, Katherine Roeder, Anna DesHotels, William DesHotels, Samuel Kuhne, Ella Kuhne, and Maren Kuhne. He is also survived by niece, Melissa Alston and nephew, Mark Lane.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian DesHotels; son, Leo R. DesHotels; parents, F. Leo DesHotels & Marguerite Lina DesHotels; sister, Barbara Dee Deville.
