Visitation will resume that Monday morning at 8:00am and burial will commence at the St. Paul Catholic Cemetery.
Ronald was born on July 21, 1944 in New Orleans to Edward Paul Lemoine, Sr. and Martha Scallan Lemoine. His family consisted of himself and four brothers. In 1962, he graduated from Mansura High School. There he met the love of his life, Linda. While still pursuing Linda, he went on to earn a Mortuary Science degree from Commonwealth College of Sciences in Houston, Texas. After graduation in 1964, he served in the U.S. Merchant Marines. Ronald made Linda his wife in September 1966. Thereafter, they welcomed two sons, Darren Edward and Ronald Christopher; and one daughter, Brandi Lynn.
He began his lifelong career as a mortician at Leitz-Eagan Funeral home in New Orleans until he decided that Mansura was where he wanted to settle and raise his family. He and Linda built their home where many memories were made. In the meantime, he worked for Escude Funeral Home where he worked until retirement.
In April 2005, his beloved Linda passed on. Ronald became the glue that kept the family together and strong. His family grew as his sons and daughter married and blessed him with grandchildren. He was lovingly called: Mac, Daddy, Daddy-O, Pop, Pump Handle, Paw Paw Pump, Paw Pump, and Poppie, along with many other sarcastic names.
Due to Ronald's profession, he was well-known and liked by many in the community. He was known for being silly, stubborn, sarcastic, strong, loving, witty, and above all, selfless. He was a wonderful husband, daddy, grandfather, and friend. In his younger years, he enjoyed the hobby of restoring antique furniture. He also took great pride in taking his sons camping, fishing and hunting. Ronald loved taking his daughter to visit his parents every day when she returned home from school. Family barbeques were a frequent occurrence at the Lemoine home, especially while his favorite football team, the Saints, were playing. He loved telling good jokes to keep others laughing, all the while enjoying a beer and a smoke. Sarcasm and humor were gifts that were passed down to his children. Ronald also had a love for old westerns. He was an avid viewer of Gunsmoke and he could recite every word in Lonesome Dove. His generosity was shown in many ways, especially when it came to donating to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, Food for the Poor, and Veterans of America.
Although Ronald lived a full life, it wasn't always easy. One of the most devastating times of his life was the loss of his son, Ron. For many years, Ronald suffered with many long-term illnesses. Due to his health declining, he moved into Riviere de Soleil Community Care Center. He made many friends, including a very special companion, Mary. During his time there, he took up two new hobbies: putting together ‘lots and lots' of puzzles and "gardening" on his window sill.
On Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at the age 72, Ronald peacefully went on to be with his Lord while being treated at Cornerstone Hospital in Bossier City. Days before his passing, he was able to spend quality time with his family. Though he fought to live, his body grew tired and weary. The Lord called and he followed. Now, he is residing in heaven and is rejoicing with his family and friends that went before him. How beautiful and breathtaking that must be!
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Lemoine; parents, Edward P. "Eddie" & Martha Lemoine, Sr.; son, Ronald Christopher Lemoine; brothers, Raymond Lemoine & Richard Lemoine.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Darren Edward Lemoine and wife Ashley of Mansura; and Brandi Coco and husband Patrick of Natchitoches; daughter-in-law, Susan Lemoine of Mansura; grandchildren, Ryan Lemoine, Blake Lemoine, Katherin Lemoine, Bella Lemoine, Elliott Coco, & Miles Coco; brothers, Bert James Lemoine of Mansura, Edward Paul Lemoine, Jr. of Plaucheville and special friend, Mary Roy of Mansura.
The family would like to thank his favorite nurse Melissa at Riviere de Soleil, Dr. Jason Nelson at WK Pierremont, and Dr. Scott Howard at Pulmonary and Critical Care Specialists for the compassion and individualized care given.
