Funeral services for Ronald Nicholas Mayeux will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2014 at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Belledeau. Visitation will take place at Escude Funeral Home of Mansura on Thursday, May 1, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume Friday morning from 8:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Louisiana FFA.
Ronald Mayeux, 69, of Hessmer passed away at his home on Tuesday, April 29, 2014. He was a lifelong educator who began his career as a vocational agriculture teacher. He then became a supervisor and later served two separate terms as Superintendent of Avoyelles Parish Schools. He also served as principal and coach at Hessmer High School. Ronald most recently returned to his roots in vocational agriculture, working for the LSU Ag Center as the Executive Secretary of the Louisiana FFA.
Ronald was an alumnus of Louisiana State University and an avid Tiger fan. He also had a passion for baseball and softball and served as coach for many teams on several different levels. He was instrumental in bringing Little League to Avoyelles Parish. Ronald helped to educate, motivate, and inspire a countless number of people throughout his lifetime.
Ronald is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret mother and father, Eunice and Paul Mayeux motherinlaw, Jannel Lambert and brother, Gerald Chatelain. He is survived by his children, Eric Mayeux and his wife Lisa, Jill Paul and her husband John, Toni Dubroc and her husband Randy, Kipp Mayeux and his wife Jennalyn grandchildren, Tory ParksThad, Ryne MayeuxDakota, and Tyler Gagnard great grandchild, Emalynn Margaret Mayeux fatherinlaw, Anthony Lambert sister, Penny Lucci sistersinlaw, Vicki DouglasJohn Dale and Janice Chatelain nephews, Warren Douglas and Corey Chatelain and grandniece Allyson Douglas, as well as other family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be David Bailey, Kodie Brouillette, Bradley Coleman, Warren Douglas, Tyler Gagnard , and Ryne Mayeux.
