Funeral services for Rudolph Gremillion of Hessmer will take place at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Hessmer on Saturday, November 17, 2012, beginning at 11:00am with Fr. Edwin RodrigeuzHernandez officiating. Visitation will be held at the Escude Funeral Home of Mansura on Friday, November 16, 2012, from 5:00pm to 10:00pm and will resume on Saturday morning at 8:00am. Burial services will commence at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Mausoleum.
Rudolph Paul Gremillion, age 81, passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2012. Mr. Gremillion was born May 2, 1931 in Hessmer. He was a graduate of Hessmer High Schools Class of 1950. During his high school years, he would service and deliver after school for his fathers first store in Hessmer. He was a local merchant with over 40 years of service to the people of the MansuraHessmer area. Mr. Gremillion owned and operated a retail furniture and appliance store located in Mansura. He has been with the store from the day that he and his father opened it in 1949, in which later on, it would become his very own.
Rudolph Gremillion was extremely active in his community. He was a charter member of the Hessmer Volunteer Fire Department when it was formed in 1964, and also served as an auxiliary Sheriffs Deputy. He served as a Board of Director for the Mansura State Bank then later the Cottonport Bank. He served as Police Juror for the Hessmer area for 16 years.
His paternal grandparents were Clifton Gremillion and Josephine Ducote of Hessmer. His maternal grandparents were Homer Laborde and Lucille Normand of Mansura.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Bertha Boniol Gremillion his five children, Carmen Lemoine husband Chris of Pineville, Laura Gremillion Chenevert of Pineville, Janelle Smith of Hessmer, Blaine Gremillion wife Rhonda of Mandeville, Clifton Gremillion wife Tracey of Angola grandchildren, Renee Newcomb, Blake Lemoine, Benjamin Lemoine, Blaine Paul Gremillion, Jr., Kelli Gremillion, 1St Lt. Jason Gremillion., US Army, Kendall Chenevert, Craig Chenevert, Kacie Chenevert, Ashley Gaspard, Shane Smith, Cody Gremillion, Alex Gremillion, Brady Gremillion, Justin Gremillion, Shelby Carter greatgrandchildren, Lailyn, Parker, Kailey, Gavin, Tanner, Laura Lee, Beaux, Blaze, Isabella Nathanael and one brother, Joseph Gremillion of Hessmer.
Service and arrangements are under the direction of Escude Funeral Home.
