Sammy Ponthier

Funeral services for Sammy Ponthier of Mansura will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 beginning at 10am at Escude Funeral Home of Mansura. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 beginning at 5pm until 10pm and will reopen at 8am on Wednesday morning until the time of service at Escude Funeral Home of Mansura. Burial will commence in the St. Paul Catholic Mausoleum. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Escude Funeral Home.

Sammy Ponthier, age 95, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Riviere De Soleil in Mansura. He was a member of the American Legion Post 320, Avoyelles Cattleman Association, Mansura Chamber of Commerce and Director & on the board for Farm Bureau. Pass Organizations include; 8th District Officer, St. Paul's Cemetery Chairman, Ward 3 Justice of the Peace. He was preceded in death by his son, Eugene Ponthier and his parents, Jules & Corlie Beauclaire Ponthier.

Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 71 years, Helen Normand Ponthier of Mansura; daughter, Lola Ponthier Dauzat of Brouillette; sons, Thomas Ponthieux of New Orleans, Gary Ponthier of Mansura. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
