Funeral services for Mr. Steven Paul Lacombe of Simmesport will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018. Visitation will be at the Escude Funeral Home in Simmesport from 8 a.m. to 11 am. followed by a funeral mass at Christ the King Catholic Church in Simmesport with Father Paul Kunnumpura officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Escude Funeral Home of Mansura.
Born on July 12, 1952 to Merlin and Doris Roy Lacombe, Steve was a cherished brother to Faye, Tommy, Bubba, and Sue. He married his high school sweetheart, Helen Plauche Lacombe, and had two daughters, Angie Lacombe Huff and Jill Lacombe Gaspard. Mr. Lacombe served as a long time employee and President of Simmesport State Bank for 44 years. He also served several terms on the Avoyelles Parish School Board from 1991 to 2006, the Simmesport Chamber of Commerce, and Christ the King Finance Committee. As an advisor, banker, and a friend, he touched the lives of numerous families and supported countless businesses over the years, locally as well as beyond Avoyelles. He enjoyed boating, hunting, farming, and spending time with his family. Mr. Lacombe, age 65, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, with his beloved wife and daughters by his side. His family and friends will remember him with heartfelt affection for his generous nature and love of his fellow man and deep admiration for the strength and tenacity he showed at the end of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Merlin Lacombe, Sr. and Doris Roy Lacombe; and his brother, Tommy Lacombe. Those left to cherish his memory and carry his legacy include his devoted wife of 44 years, Helen Plauche Lacombe of Simmesport; two daughters, Angelle (Max) Huff of Prairieville and Jill (Travis) Gaspard of Zachary; one brother, Merlin "Bubba" Lacombe, Jr. of Prairieville; two sisters, Faye (Bruce) Juneau of Moreauville and Sue (Kevin) Lemoine of Zachary; 9 grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made in Steve's honor to The Suzanne Wright's Foundation at codepurplenow.org for pancreatic cancer research.
