Steven Rabalais

Services for Mr. Steven Joseph Rabalais of Mansura will be held Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in St. Pauls Catholic Church, where Mr. Rabalais was a parishioner, located in Mansura, LA. Father Chad Partain will officiate the service.
Visitation will be held at Escudes Funeral Home in Mansura from 9:00 A.M. to 1:45 P.M. with a rosary at noon on the morning of the service. Burial will take place at St. Pauls Cemetery in Mansura, LA under the direction of Escude Funeral Home.
Mr. Rabalais, 63, of Mansura was born on January 29, 1949 and died in his home with loved ones on September 12, 2012 at 12:30 P.M.
Mr. Rabalais was a lifelong educator, working at Angola State Penitentiary during the 1970s, Marksville Elementary, and Cottonport State Prison before returning to Angola in the late 1990s as a GED instructor. He was a military veteran serving in Vietnam from 1970 to 1971 and later serving as a sergeant in the Louisiana National Guard.
Mr. Rabalais favorite past times were horses, hunting, fishing, frogging and especially training hunting dogs. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchild Michael, and his nephews son Braxton. Mr. Rabalais was anxiously awaiting the arrival of another grandchild, Maverick, who is due to be born in October.
Mr. Rabalais was preceded in death by his father, Maxime F. Rabalais, his uncle Maxie Jeansonne, his brother Frank Rabalais, his grandparents Andrew and Nonie Jeansonne, and his cousin Freddie Rock Jeansonne.
Survivors include his wife Rhonda Roy Rabalais of Mansura, his daughter Natalie Rabalais of Baton Rouge, his son J. Dexter Rabalais, daughterinlaw Lauren Mitcham Rabalais, grandson Dexter Michael Rabalais , and expectant grandson Maverick Grae Rabalais, of Natchitoches two sisters, Geralyn Rabalais Moreau of Simmesport, Joan Rabalais Price of Houma his mother, Bessie Dupont of Mansura and numerous nieces and nephews.
