Funeral Mass for Suzanne Rabalais Altaan resident of Dallas, TX formerly of Mansura, will begin at 12:00pm on Friday, June 21, 2024, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Mansura with Fr. Blake Deshautelle officiating. The burial will follow at the St. Paul Cemetery. 

Suzanne R. Altaan, age 58, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at the UT Southwestern Hospital in Dallas, TX. Suzanne Marie Rabalais Altaan was born on September 22, 1965, to Daniel and Alice Rabalais in Morgan City, Louisiana. Suzanne married Sammy Altaan in 1989 in Houston, TX. They have two children, Zachariah and Alexander. Suzanne attended Mansura High School and Avoyelles CDC, graduating in 1983. She became a registered nurse nearly thirty years ago. Suzanne found her true calling when she began teaching at the Frisco Independent School District in Frisco, Texas, in 2008. She taught Health Science to high school students at the Career and Technology Education (CTE) Center. Her students appreciated her sense of humor, her high expectations, and the concern she showed for each of them. Her principal states, “She shared so much knowledge with her students and they loved her. Lots of medical professionals (are) out there because of her work with students.” Suzanne had a contagious laugh and a deep love for home and the friends and family she grew up with. Suzanne and Sammy enjoyed traveling with their children and living close to them as they became adults. Her house was usually filled with activity.

Suzanne is survived by her husband, Sammy Altaan; her son, Zachariah Altaan and his children, Landon and Zaine Altaan; her son, Alexander Altaan, daughter-in-love Jade Wilds and their daughter, Immiera Wilds, all of Dallas, TX; her brother, Conrad Rabalais and his wife Patricia of Vicksburg, MS, and their children, Christopher Rabalais (married to Katie; daughter Madelyn) and Lauren May (married to David; son Briggs); her sister, Mamie Thompson and her husband Richard of Ada, OK, and their children, Alicia Carmichael (married to Alden), Adam Daniel (married to Jaylea), Andrew Daniel (married to Emma), Adeline Daniel, Amanda Daniel, and Roxane Thompson; her aunt, Alice Mast (married to John); her aunt, Gail Hays; and cousins, Jim Mast, David Mast, Lenora Ellis, and Jane Bates and their spouse and children.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers: Zach Altaan, Alex Altaan, Adam Daniel, Chris Rabalais, Richard Thompson, David May, Conrad Rabalais, Dalvin Warren, Andrew Daniel, and David Mast.

Suzanne was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lawrence and Verdun Rabalais and Lydia and Herbert Landry; her parents, Daniel and Alice Rabalais; and her godmother, Marjorie Landry.

Visitation will begin at 5:00pm until 9:00pm on Thursday, June 20, 2024, and resume 9:00am until 11:45am on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Escude Funeral Home in Mansura.
