Funeral Mass for Ursula "Rosie" Smith will take place at the St. Mary Catholic Church of Cottonport on Saturday, May 5th, 2018 beginning at 11:00am.
Rosie, age 89, passed away at the Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital of Alexandria on Thursday, May 3rd, 2018. She was a German war bride, marrying her 1st husband Leslie Gauthier and came to the United States of America on December 12th, 1949. Rosie worked Dr. Philip Giuffre for 10 years, Dr. Joel Jackson for 10 years, and at Cottonport Elementary School for 13 years. She loved reading in her spare time and enjoyed when she would visit with her children and grandchildren. Rosie's last days were spent at the Hessmer Nursing Home and at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital. Her family would like to thank the wonderful caring staff that took care of her.
She was preceded in death by her children, Tommy Gauthier & Leslie "Tega" Gauthier; her 1st husband, Leslie L. Gauthier; 2nd husband, Herman Smith; parents, Ernest & Elsa Kramer Schellenberger; brothers, Manfred Schellenberger & Dieter Shellenberger; sister, Sybilla Schellenberger; and son-in-law, Wayne J. Jeansonne. She is survived by her children, Barbara Ducote (Harold), Christine Hoffpauir (George), Elaine Dunn (Steve), and David Gauthier (Cindy). She is also survived by her eleven grandchildren, Harold, Jr., Leslie, Wayne, Jr., Stacy, Heather, Casey, Joshua, Scarlet, Ashley, Crystal, and Thomas; and also 15 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and her nephew in Germany, Thomas.
