Velma Ann LaCour Guillot

Funeral Mass for Velma LaCour Guillot native of Simmesport, will take place at the Christ the King Catholic Church of Simmesport on Monday, July 22, 2024, beginning at 10:30 am with Rev. Kurian Zachariah officiating. Burial will follow at the Christ the King Catholic Cemetery.

 Velma LaCour Guillot, age 67, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, in the comfort of her home in Simmesport. Velma was a loving mother, grandmother, and a devoted wife. She enjoyed quiet activities such as reading and playing word search books. She had a special fondness for hummingbirds, having decorated her home with them and kept a feeder in her garden to watch them flutter about. She was an active member of Christ the King Catholic Church of Simmesport and sang in the choir every Sunday. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Rebecca Guillot; six grandchildren, Kathlyne Guillot, Robert Guillot, Jr., Daniel Guillot, Nicholas Kulick, Catalina Guillot, and Ian Kulick; mother, Mamie Ard; two brothers, Joseph LaCour and Donald LaCour (Carlene); sister, Gwendolyn Bordelon (Blaine); brother-in-law, Marvin Guillot (Regine); four nephews, Dustin LaCour (Courtney), Jarred LaCour (Rayneke), William Guillot (Maria), and Trey LaCour; three nieces, Candace Clark (Daniel), Layken Gremillion (Jacob), and Mariah Allement (Gary). 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Guillot; son, Robert Guillot, Sr., sister, Sharon LaCour; father, Foster LaCour; maternal grandfather, John Rusk; maternal grandmother, Lessie Rusk; paternal grandfather, Murphy LaCour; and paternal grandmother, Marie LaCour.
