Funeral services for Vernelle Bowman Leger will be at Escude Funeral Home in Simmesport, LA on Friday, January 25, 2019. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until departure to the Heart of Worship church in Lettsworth, LA at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 11:00a.m.
She is preceded in death by husband of 50 years Joseph B. Leger, Sr., two sons Joseph B. Leger, Jr. and Clint Leger, one grandchild Daniel Leger and one great-grandchild Spencer Leger.
She is survived by her three children: Connie Lemoine from Simmesport, LA, David (Ginny) Leger from Simmesport, LA., Denise (Robert) Day from Bachelor, LA and one daughter-in-law Shirley Leger Devillier from Evergreen, LA.; one brother Earl Bowman from Simmesport, LA and one sister Bonnie Bowman Byrd from Slidell, LA. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Tisha (Lance) Leger Moreau from Simmesport, LA, Amie (Jamie) Leger Starks from Marksville, LA., Shelly (Quinton) Leger Adams from Simmesport, LA, Jeremy Lemoine from Simmesport, LA., Ryan (Tracy) Leger from Evergreen, LA, Michael (Ashley) Leger from Marksville, LA, Nicholas (Brandy) Ratteree from Baton Rouge, LA, and Isabella Leger from Simmesport, LA.; and her 15 great-grandchildren.
Vernell was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a faithful Christian woman who always had a smile on her face and a plate of food for anyone that was hungry. You always left her home full of love, food and good helping of God's word. She loved the Lord, her family and doting on her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Leger, Jeremy Lemoine, Michael Leger, Hunter Moreau, Nicholas Ratteree and Chris Savoie.
