Victor Maddie

Victor "Bill" Maddie, 97, of Simmesport was called home on Wednesday March 4, 2015 at Avoyelles Hospital in Marksville.
Bill was born on May 30, 1917 in Odenburg, LA. He was a lifelong resident of Simmesport and a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Simmesport.
Mr. Maddie was a veteran of World War II having served 4 ½ years in the U.S. Army, in the European Campaign. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign wars post No. 7643 if Simmesport.
After his discharge from service, Bill owned and operated a restaurant, bar, and lounge in Simmesport for 44 years until his retirement. His love for gardening was only exceeded by his love for God. His greatest joy was to share his fresh vegetables with his friends and family. The void he left behind in our lives can only be filled with our love for him and wonderful memories.
Victor was preceded in death by his father, Frank Maddie; Mother Carrie Z Maddie; Three brothers; Joseph, Carlo, and Sam Maddie; Four Sisters: Lena Broadway, Margaret Lemoine, Frances Maddie, Mary LeGrange and son-in-law Daniel Lemoine.
Mr. Maddie is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marjorie F. Maddie, two sons; Daniel Maddie and Mark Maddie both of Denham Springs, LA; One daughter, Vicki Lemoine of Moss Bluff, LA. One sister; Jenny Maddie of Simmesport, Grandchildren: Judy Frazier, Garrett Lemoine and Miranda Stansifer; six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will begin on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. The funeral home will reopen at 8 a.m. Saturday morning until time of service.
The service will be held 12:00 p.m., March 7, 2015 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Simmesport. Monsignor John Timmermans will officiate. Burial will be in Christ the King Mausoleum under the direction of Escude Funeral Home.
