Funeral services for Wilfrid Clayton Roy of Mansura will be held at the St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church of Mansura on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, beginning at 11:00am with Father Chad Partain officiating. Visitations will also take place at the church, prior to the funeral, beginning at 9:00am. Burial services will commence at the St. Paul Catholic Mausoleum.
Mrs. Roy was born and raised in Mansura. She married her high school sweetheart, John Roy, and moved to New Orleans where she lived and worked for the Orleans Parish School Board and raised her family until John retired and planted a pecan plantation on Cocoville Road. She was the epidemy of a kind, caring, loving, and generous mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was kind to everyone she encountered and possessed a compassionate and pleasant nature that endeared her to all who met her. She loved to watch Family Feud and the Wheel of Fortune every evening with her friend Bill and her cat, Sassy. She loved to eat good food and looked forward to going out to dinner every Friday night. She had a strong faith in God and attended mass every Sunday until the day she died. Mrs. Roy was totally unselfish and always put others needs and desires before her own. She loved life and was excited to be alive at 91. Wilfrid was an exceptional woman, who will be sadly missed but joyfully remembered by all her many family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John Roy, Sr. sons, Ronald Roy John Roy, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Broussard of Lafayette sons, Brennan Roy of Houston, Joseph Glenn Roy of Mandeville, Tyrone Roy of Mansura.
