A wonderful and loving husband and pawpaw who was known to his family and friends as NeNe, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Lafayette. He was 82, a resident of Simmesport and a veteran of World War II. Visitations will be held at Escude Funeral Home of Simmesport, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., with wake service at 6 p.m., and will reopen Saturday after 8 a.m. Religious service at Christ the King Catholic Church, Simmesport, Saturday at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. James Nellikumnel, the Rev. George Krosfield and the Rev. Dan Corkery. Entombment will commence at the Christ the King Mausoleum. Survived by his wife, Audrey Harrington Normand, Simmesport son, Ricky James Normand, Simmesport daughters, Rachel and husband Donald Lucas of Check, VA., Ramona Pratt of Shawnee, OK, Rebecca and husband John LeBlanc of Humble, Texas, and Regina and husband Tony Gonzales of Duson adopted children, Sheryl Shirley and Paul Haggard III, both of Simmesport sister, Irene Ryland of Simmesport brother, Paul Myers of San Antonio fourteen grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Adele Williams Normand brothers, Wilmer, Barren, Irby and Floyd Normand and sister, Estelle Myers. Pallbearers will be Donald Lucas, John LeBlanc, Tony Gonzales, Huey Fontenot, Paul Meyers and Paul Haggard III. Honorary pallbearers are Murry Rabalais, Vance Saucier and Joseph Harrington Jr. Crossbearer will be Ricky Normand. He was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and DAV and a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Louisiana Association for the Blind and actively participated in the Senior Olympics.
