Funeral services for Y.D. Gullett of Cottonport will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, at the Bayou Rouge Baptist Church in Evergreen with the Rev. Brian Johnston officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Escude Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. until time of the service. A retired cattleman and farmer, Y.D., 83, passed away Monday. He was born in Evergreen and spent most of his life in Cottonport. He is a U.S. Navy veteran and served in the Pacific during World War II. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marjorie Ortego Gullett of Cottonport; one son, Pete Gullett of Jefferson, and his wife, Georgiann; a granddaughter, Leigh Anne Gullett of San Antonio, Texas; three brothers and one sister, Sam Gullett of Lafayette, Fred and Tom Gullett, both of Cottonport, and Mabel Beckler of Jefferson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Y.D. was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Florence Gullett, his grandson, Kipp Earl Gullett, a brother, Rodney Gullett, and a sister, Betty Goudeau.
