Funeral service for Jerry Wayne “Louie” Gunnells of Batchelor will take place at the Grace Community Baptist Church of Jacoby on Wednesday, September 1st, 2021 beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Larry Thibodeaux officiating. Burial will take place at the Gunnells Cemetery.

Jerry Gunnells, age 65, passed away at his home in Batchelor surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, August 26th, 2021. Jerry worked from the age of 16 up until he retired at the age of 64 as loyal and dedicated boilermaker, welder, and pipefitter.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 42 years, Carolyn Mixon Gunnells. They share one son, Brad Joseph Gunnells (Jill), and one daughter, Brandy Lynn Gunnells, both of Batchelor; his two grandchildren, Gavin and Kenzie Clark; his mother, Evelyn “Coo” Gunnells of Lettsworth; sister, Marilyn Desselle of Lettsworth; brother, Leon Gunnells and Keith Gunnells (Jackie), both of Lettsworth; and in-laws, Wanda Munson (Reid), Sammy Mixon (Elizabeth), and Pat Rouse (Patrick). He also leaves behind 2 step-grandchildren, Mallory and Andrew Allen; 2 godchildren, Jacob and Katy Prothro; and 15 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Thomas Gunnells, III; sister, Carleen J. Gunnells; nephew, Lil Keith Gunnells, and brother-in-law, Junior Mixon.

Those honored to serve as his pallbearers include: Gavin Clark, Sammy Mixon, Chad Gunnells, Josh “Lil Mule” Laborde, Keith Gunnells, and Logan Gaspard. Serving as honorary pallbearers are: Brad Gunnells, Reid Munson, Killer, Chad Munson, Leon Gunnells, Mark Gaspard, Kenny Rogers, Brett Thorton, Jacob Prothro, and Andrew Allen.

Visitation will be held at the Grace Community Baptist Church of Jacoby on Wednesday, September, 1st, 2021 from 9:00 a.m.  to 11:00 a.m..
